Last statistics class -- project presentations

To start we will discuss the last bit of the ANOVA analyses from last week.

We will then move to the project presentations. Please have your analyses and graphs organized for display. We'll project the results on the screen (assuming your computer can connect to the projector) and you can walk us through what you found.

With any remaining time we will discuss the structure and implementation of this year's class.

For May 29--ANOVA

Keep working to finish up the OLI course :)

In class on Thurs, we will
  • talk about stats we've noticed in the big wide world
  • talk about projects
  • try out hypothesis testing for ANOVA

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

For May 22....if you've kept up, this is the last bit of OLI!!

Here's what to aim to complete in OLI this week....drum roll, please:

Screens 251-261...YAY, it's a wrap, you finished.
Unit 4, Module 14: Inference for Relationships continued
Case C--> C....this is chi-square
Case Q--> Q...this is regression
In class on Thurs, we will
  • talk about stats we've noticed in the big wide world
  • talk about projects
  • try out hypothesis testing for two independent samples
  • and if time, try out hypothesis testing for matched pairs

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

For May 15

Here's what to aim to complete in OLI this week:

Screens 243-250
Unit 4, Module 13: Inference for Relationships
ANOVA
In class on Thurs, we will
  • talk about stats we've noticed in the big wide world
  • finish discussing the basic concepts in hypothesis testing
  • try out hypothesis testing for two independent samples

Tuesday, May 6, 2014

For May 8 -- remember to bring an example Ho and Ha

First, this is a reminder to think up a sample research question, to figure out the null hypothesis (Ho) and the alternative hypothesis (Ha), and to be ready to share with the class.

Here's what to aim to complete in OLI this week:

Screens 235-242
Unit 4, Module 13: Inference for Relationships
Matched Pairs
In class on Thurs, we will
  • talk about stats we've noticed in the big wide world
  • share your sample research questions and corresponding Ho and Ha
  • continue with discussing steps 2-4 in hypothesis testing

Monday, April 28, 2014

For May 1

Here's what to aim to complete in OLI this week:

Screens 222-234
Unit 4, Module 12: Hypothesis Testing
Type I and Type II Errors (screens 222-223, optional)
Unit 4, Module 13: Inference for Relationships
Two Independent Samples
In class on Thurs, we will
  • talk about stats we've noticed in the big wide world
  • continue discussing concepts related to confidence interval
  • discuss hypothesis testing and devise examples which we could possibly test

Monday, April 21, 2014

For April 24 -- bring your simulation for estimate of # of German tanks

Here's what to aim to complete in OLI this week:

Screens 212-221
Unit 4, Module 12: Hypothesis Testing
Hypothesis Testing for the Population Mean
Wrap-up

In class on Thurs, we will
  • talk about stats we've noticed in the big wide world
  • consider the results of the German tank simulations from last class and compare to other possible statistics
